A Lesson in Patience

I often notice that there are seasons where I work on certain things. Perhaps cycles is a better word. Themes will repeat themselves in my life. I always treat these insights with respect. I have found that they bring wonderful blessings when I listen, and wonderful lessons when I don't (smiles). You know the expression, "Spirit will guide those who are willing, and drag the rest". One such thing I have always worked on is patience.

A while back, seemed like everywhere I turned there was something being said or written about patience. I said to myself, "I am going to work on that", and then forgot about it.

In the days that followed it seemed as though everything I tried to do was delayed. Subways, music, checks, you name it, if I was working on it I would be delayed. In airports, whatever line I would choose through security would always be the slowest line with considerable delays. After some months I was ready for the delays to end.

In a dream, a Master came to me and we were speaking about any number of things. As the conversation ended I said, "It seems as though everything I am doing is delayed. What is the lesson here".

He looked at me with eyes of compassion and said, "Do you remember when you said that you wanted to work on patience? "Ah...yes, I replied...patience".

'Well Rodney", he said, "If you want to learn patience, you must be willing to wait".

I let the words settle within my being as I began to wake up. Shortly thereafter, the delays went back to the normal ebb and flow of life.

I realize that all of those things that are the most challenging areas of my life, hold within them the seeds to be my greatest teachers.

Now when I wait, I smile...and turn on the iPod!

Safe Journeys,

Rodney
